1. What is an interactive book?
Much more than a typical e-book, this interactive, browser-based format features easy navigation tools that let readers progress through the book at their own pace. It also offers a read-along component to help ELL students, emergent readers, and struggling readers improve reading skills.
2. How is an interactive book different from an e-book?
Traditional e-books are flat renditions of paper books. Because of this, they lack the features that can make your students excited! And, since e-books are not designed for screen use, they can often force students to scroll down to see a whole page piece by piece. With most traditional e-books, you cannot see the entire book page at one time. Interactive books show you the whole book page, and add innovative features to help even your most reluctant reader! Audio, animation, and auto-run features are included within our interactive books.
3. Will Alkem Library Interactive work for ESL students?
Yes, it is perfect for ESL students of all ages, as well as native speakers in grades K-8.
4. How does the Accelerated Reader® program work with Interactive books?
It works the same as with our books! If you've purchased the quizzes from Accelerated Reader of our titles, students or patrons can take the tests!
5. I can't hear the book – what should I check?
An exciting feature of the interactive book is the read-aloud capability. If you cannot hear the narrator, there are a few things for you to check. First, make sure that your volume is turned on. Many computers have volume and mute control through the computer – check these settings first. Second, make sure that your external speakers are turned up. If you still cannot hear the sound, double check the system requirements and make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements listed.
6. What are the minimum requirements to play an Interactive book?
